My brother needs a new computer and is on a budget. We're trying to stick to around $500 ($600 absolute max) and currently I am around $410 (before rebates) with the bare-bones system that I have here. He isn't doing much gaming on it besides the occasional Starcraft game, but may want to watch streaming videos off of the internet. (maybe HD streaming) Please tell me what you think about the following components and how they will work together.
Case: Cooler Master Elite 335 (Keeping it simple and cheap) PSU: Corsair CX400W (Is this enough for this system?) Mobo: ASRock M3A780GXH CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9 GHz Dual Core GPU: Using onboard, unless it doesn't cut it Sound: Onboard HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB Or should I go with Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 7200rpm Optical Drive: Samsung 22x DVD Burner Memory: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 Operating System: Windows 7 Release Candidate (Until Windows 7 comes out) Wireless Adapter: Rosewill RNX-N300 Wifi Adapter Mouse & Keyboard: Generic Possible Extras include: 13in1 or 15in1 card reader, tv tuner, a second 500GB HDD dedicated to recorded tv and music, an additional 4 GB of ram, a nicer case complete with leds Thank you for your time! |

The 400w will be fine for on-board and low-end video cards
Would look to Asus for the motherboard. WiFi card, get one that is the same brand as the wireless router or at least a name brand like Linksys if the wifi is part of the modem. Optical drrive: Look to Lite-On/Asus/Sony.
