Problem on new build
Hey everyone, my new computer works fine with most games, great fps etc.
However, when I play WoW, in certain places in the game, my game goes all funky and I experience texture errors resulting in a fatal error of the game. I contacted blizzard, and the guy said it could be one of these problems with my system- I have windows xp 32-bit and I have 4 gigs of ram - So i took out 1 stick and now have 2 gigs, tried it again and it still messed up. Out of date Chipset for motherboard - Updated that too, still nothing. He also said it could be BIOS, so i downloaded an updaye from ASUS But I have no clue how to install it, the update is a ROM file that windows does not recognize. Heres the link to the motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131363 Like i said, no clue on how to install the BIOS update, its not a .exe or anything. It's a .ROM and I have no clue on what to do with it. He said it could be my virus protection AVAST! , so I disabled it, nothing. He said it could by my Audio device, I'm using integrated stuff and he said it's out of date. Going to install that after i finish posting here. So, how do i install this .ROM file? |

Pull out the manual and follow the instructions for using EZ-Flash to update your bios.
First though, tell us your full specs.

Copy the ROM file to a USB flash memory key. Turn the computer OFF and insert the key. Turn the computer ON and enter the BIOS setup. Navigate to EZ-Flash and follow the prompts. You do *NOT* flash a bios in Windows unless the bios update is specifically designed to do it and there is NO other way to do it.

No, my card is not overheating. All temps are below 40 C so there's no way.
BTW I updated it, thanks. But it did not solve the problem. I gave the guy at Blizzard my dxdiag, msconfig and logs/errors of WoW. Nice specs.
From your description your problem is limited to WOW so it's likely that Blizzard is at fault, not your hardware. |

I use a gtx280 with wow and sometimes fps can be as low as 27fps in places like Dalaran.
My specs are Q9550 2.8ghz Qaud Core , Asus striker II extreme MOB , 4gig ddr3 corsair ram gtx280 graphics and Vista 32bit. Id say its blizz that is the problem caus i run all other games fine with great FPS and expierenced low fps and crashes in wow alot. The best way I have found to run wow with good fps and without crashing is to run it in opengl. To do this create a new shortcut on your desktop to launch wow. Right click the shortcut and go to properties. Where it says target add -opengl at the end like this "C:\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -opengl |
