Removing Parts from a Pc
Hi people. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to building pcs so i want you tell me if I am right about these tings. I know that as a Pc builder you need to know how to swap parts so tell me if I have everything right when it comes to removing these different parts
1. Motherboard- need to remove RAM, PSU connector, processor, heatsink and fan, video card, sound card, hard drive connectors, Floppy disk connectors, cd rom drive connector 2. PSU- PSU connector, all other connectors it is attached too such as heatsink, hard drive, floppy drive, cd rom drive...... 3. Hard Drive - PSU connector, hard drive connector on motherboard and may need to unscrew the hard drive.... 4. CPU- remove heatsink and fan....(May need to unscrew heatsink), also the connectors for heatsink on motherboard or PSU. Raise lever and remove cpu. 5. RAM- unclick both sides and remove them 6. Video and Sound Cards - Unscrew from case then lift them off the slots 7. Floppy Drives - Pull out PSU connector and Floppy Cable from the back of it 8. CD Rom Drive - unscrew it then remove audio cable, PSU connector and cd rom connector from the back Did I leave out anything..does this thing seem right...As a newbie I think a list like this will be useful to me to look at so I know how to remove a particular component |

Yeah you also want to factor in the case. My first computer my uncle built for me back in 1999 had the worst case imaginable, even though the Pentium III in it is still running strong. When I want to replace the hard drive, not only do I have to remove both sides of the case in order to remove screws on opposite ends, I have to remove the graphics card, the video and audio card (it's an old mb), among other things, just to get the hard drive out. It's a day's work. Now with nicer cases, these days have come to an end, and usually the more expensive the case, the more easy it is to add/remove parts.

The motherboard is best removed and replaced with the CPU, heatsink, and ram installed.
