Dead Mobo

Hi folks,

Seems my mobo stopped working. Assuming the tech is correct and I need a replacement Mobo, would like to ask if anyone has a recommendation given my existing Processor, Ram etc.

Here is what my system has now:

Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W SmartPower 2.0 Power Supply

PNY VCG7600GXPB GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6400

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 675 (PC2 5400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-5400c4

ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE/ATAPI Model ND-3550A

(2x) Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10000 RPM SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31000333AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

So my question is what would be a logical upgrade to this Mobo not having to replace a lot of the existing hardware components. I mainly use this box for Photoshop and other high demand photo editing software. Is there any utility to upgrading RAm while I am at it?

Trying not to have to build a whole new computer but make any neccessary upgrades while I am at it.

Thanks for any inputs.

Here's an Asus board that looks to support your parts: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131393
there are a couple others but most are uATX.

I'd go for a P45 chipset over a P43. I would also replace that DVD burner with a SATA burner. If you use demanding apps, I'd replace the ram with a 2x2 kit of DDR2-800, it's dirt cheap now.

Well after much researching and weighing the options on a new Mobo I get a call today from my technician and he says come in your puter is fixed. Bad memory. Whew. He apologized for not starting with the component isolation principles first and let me borrow some ram until I can order more.

Weird this corsairXMS DD2 was only 3 years old. Oh well, memory is cheap. Thanks for the 2 posts to my original question.

Corsair ram has a lifetime warranty - RMA it, don't buy more.

Yup,
That's what I did.... RMA. Corsair has been awesome help w/customer service and they are sending me 2x2GB DD2-800 sticks as the 2x1GB DD2-675 have been phased out. Good all the way around. +1 for Corsair.
