Hey guys! I'm pretty new to building a whole system, though I've done my fair share of swapping out parts and limited diagnostics in the past, however this has me stumped for the moment. New computer build with the following components:
Case: Sunbeam Transformer Full Tower ATX Mobo: Asrock x48 Extreme LGA1336 SLI/Crossfire Compatable ATX Proc: Intel i7 920 [2.66ghz] Socket LGA1336 Ram: Crucial 4GB [2x2GB] 240 pin DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) PSU: Seventeam 750W ATX 12v v2.2 Crossfire and SLI ready Vid:BFG Nvidia 9800GT 1gb ddr3 video ram CD:Lite-On SATA CD/DVD drive HD: No url, a hitachi SATA 640GB drive. The overall build went fine, the only disconcerting moment being when I found that the North bridge, or its heatsink(i think) is held down by two black pins with spings on them. One of those had come off during shipping, but was in the box, so I returned it to where it went. The rest of the build went fine. I get it all set up, fans ready everything. boot, posts, go into bios, it appears to be recognizing all my hardware, so I restart and boot to my Win7 Install disk. It crashes, the mobo debug showing "AA" then restarts, crashing and restarting again at more frequent intervals if I leave it on. It will crash after a few min(3-5) of just sitting in the BIOS, temp doesn't get above 100-110F(Is that too high?) Crashes in bios leave the mobo debug screen showing "87" which means "I'm running bios" Occasionally if I turn it on too quickly after one of those errors It hangs on "38" which is "starting devices through DIM" Any thoughts on what I should try or whats wrong? any help is appreciated and I'll post any more info which is requested Thanks! |

Really easy fix, send back the Asrock and get an Asus Deluxe V2.
Asrock are refuse motherboards. Hoefuly this was not a gaming build.
