Angry Problems with my first build...

After putting it all together without hardly any problems I got it all connected to the monitor and everything else. It all seemed to be going well. When I press the power button the LED light flashes for about a second and that's it. Nothing else happens.... no fans or noises or anything else. Anyone have any advice?!?!?

Test it again as soon as you get it back in the case before reconnecting everything - your original issue may have been due to improper board mounting and you may do the same thing all over again.

It would have helped a lot if we the OP listed his hardware, at least the motherboard.

bleh, going blind after 15 hours a day 6 days straight. Ok I would make sure non of the little bits of metal sticking out of the back I/O plate is jabbing any USB ports, ethernet port or anything else on the motherboard.

How do you know it is all working? Because the fans are spinning? Did you test it with a different monitor?

fqpissed Buzzing noise coming from inside of the case!?!?!

I just got all the BIOS configured and everything and put in my system disk. About a minute after putting in the disk a weird buzzing/humming noise came from the case. Its pretty loud and annoying. I turned it off and took out the disk. still buzzing... I started unplugging things to see if that would make the noise stop. I tried the dvd player, fans, and hard drive. None of these seem to be the problem.... it's still buzzing now even with just the power supply and cpu. is this a problem with the power supply?!?!?

Try this: Unplug the psu from the wall. Flip the switch off if you have one. If you don't, leaqve it unplugged for at least a minute. Plug her back in flip the switch on the psu. Power up your pc.

I did what you said. I unplugged the PSU and all of the other cords. After one minute I powered it back up, and the noise continued! Any other ideas?

When I am starting the comuter I am using a screwdriver to short curcuit. When the cpu fan begins running, 2 seconds later the buzzing sound starts. Also, I beleive that the problem is not related to the PSU because if I unplug the tiny four pronged speaker peice that came with the case from the motherboard, the noise stops.

Does this mean it is coming from the CPU or the CPU fan, or even the tiny speaker piece?

Threads merged.

That is a warning buzzer - one of your monitored parameters is out of spec. These would be CPU temperature, motherboard temperature, CPU fan speed, or case fan speeds. Go into the bios and look at the hardware monitor, you should be able to figure out which one it is.

Thanks a lot. It isn't buzzing now.

hi, i have a similar problem - loud high pitched buzzing that seems to be coming from my video card when i power up. however, ALSO my monitor wont display ("no signal input, check video cable").

i have tested 2 monitors and get the same "no signal" warning on each. the error displays before i even power up the pc. im connecting the monitor to the video card with a hdmi to dvi-d cable.

here are my specs:
MSI P55-GD65 MOBO
thermaltake W0116RU 750w modular psu
intel i7 860 cpu
diamond radeon 5870 video card
(2)Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28" 3ms Widescreen monitor

i have already tested it per the instructions here: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

then, when i power up (after getting the "no signal" display), the machine starts a loud high pitched whine similar to the one you describe above. i believe its coming from the video card.

on powerup, the mobo lights up and appears to function normally (which i assume also means the cpu is functioning), and obviously since everything seems to be powered (including the video card), then i assume the psu is also working fine. and since i have tested 2 monitors, getting the same message each time, then the monitor is not the problem.

what im wondering is this: does the loud buzzing indicate that a bios setting needs to be changed (and therefore the video card is not the problem)? and if so, how could i fix this if theres no display?

i appreciate the help!

Did you connect the TWO 6-pin power connectors to your video card?

Is the video card fan spinning when you start up the computer? Also try starting up the computer without the video card plugged in to see if it still makes the same noise.

on second try, you were right. i found out two things however.

with the diamond radeon 5870, it will whine loudly when powered on if you didnt plug in the second power cable to the psu (fan still spins with 1).

also, if you plug in both cables and startup with the card fan spinning but receive a "no signal check video cable" error on the display, then the card may not be pushed all the way into the pci-e slot on the mobo. that was my problem. push it in till it clicks, not just when it sticks. i made a similar mistake with my ram. what can i say im a noob.
