Mutt Computer

Ive been putting together a mutt computer from the bones of an old HP pavillion and trying to do so as cheaply as possibly. The hard drive came from the pavillion, so I am able to turn it on in safe mode and have it load windows. When I try to load windows normally it tries to load before giving a blue screen and restarting. Since its HP it didn't come with a windows disk, just a recovery partition. Any suggestions?
