Price vs. Performance vs. Longevity

It's been a while since I've posted here (also since I built a new computer), but I was curious for criticism about my new build:

Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400 - Retail

EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Retail

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Retail x2

ZALMAN 9500A 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (bare drive) - OEM

Logitech 920-000325 Black USB Wired Ergonomic Wave Keyboard - Retail

Logitech G5 7 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB Wired Laser Mouse - Retail

Here's my set of questions. Basically, I want to build a frugal performance machine that will last me for a while (who doesn't right?). Does this build achieve that, or can parts be exchanged to either lessen the cost (estimated at around $1,214.88 on Newegg.com)? Also, would it be better just to save up some more money and build a core i7 rig?

I'm not building this computer until around Black Friday or Xmas time to try and snag some deals, so it isn't going to be constructed in the immediate future. I also snagged a copy of Windows 7 Professional for $30 so that will be the OS. Any helpful advice or critiques would be appreciated.

Also, I planned to overclock this machine, if that changes anyone's opinions about the hardware setup.

If you're waiting that long, your list will completely change by then.

If you want to build now, its solid. I'd go with a WD Black hard drive though, Raptor's aren't really worth the expense.
