Need some help
I've recently had some issues with my computer locking up while playing WoW and then hanging up on the boot screen when I try to restart it. The local computer shop said I had a virus which they removed and they also updated cmos. Back home with the computer it starts up great and 45 minutes later I start having the same issue. All my other drivers are updated so I'm thinking possibly my video card has started to go bad. I don't overclock and have an Antec 900 case so I can't imagine overheating is the issue. If the computer starts back up the frequently I'll get a message on post saying that the memory speeds need adjusting (not exact words), but I have it all set on auto. Here are the rest of my computers specs.
Intel Q6600 2.5GHz NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512 nForce 780i SLI MB Serial code 132-CK-NF78 Corsair 625W PSU 4Gigs Corsair RAM (4x1GB sticks) DDR2 800 Any thoughts before I start replacing parts? If I do have to replace the video card, I'd like to get the best one currently available that would be compatible with my system. So, I'm open to suggestions on that front too. |

Did some further research on EVGA's website and it could be an issue with the MB not being able to handle 4 sticks of RAM properly. I'm going to try a reset and just going with 2x1GB sticks. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll be in need of a new MB...not video card. I'll probably go ASUS this time so again I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks for any input. |

FYI, removing two sticks of memory worked like a champ. Apparently there are some work arounds to get this particular MB to work properly with 4 sticks of memory but the low cost alternative of removing two has me up and running again...bug free.
Next build I will go back to ASUS. |

What voltage are you running the ram at? Some motherboards seem to have a problem running 4 sticks of ram at stock voltage, but will run them fine if you increase the voltage a bit.

I have also heard of BIOS fixes for that problem. But be aware of the hazards of flashing a BIOS.
