Suggestions for improving my gaming build
Now that my current 4 year old gaming PC's video card finally kicked the bucket I have an excuse to upgrade to a new system. I live in Canada so I'll be ordering from Newegg.ca.
I think I would like to use a full tower instead of a mid because I am frustrated with space constraints on my mid tower. I have never built a system using a full tower before, is it very different? I'm trying to keep my budget under $1000CA, here is what I have so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by TehGobbo; 10-04-2009 at 02:56 PM. |

If you are using a full size case and a video card, why are you using a micro ATX motherboard with onboard video?

Whoops. Must have clicked on the wrong one on the list. And somehow still missed it while copy-pasting. It should be fixed now. Also added a CPU cooler to my list.

You don't need a cooler unless you plan on heavily overclocking.
DDR2-1066 is not supported in all 4 slots, so if you plan on adding more ram later, stick with DDR2-800. |

How much of a performance decrease would it be going to two sticks of DDR2-800 over the 1066? I'm not very familiar with the performance characteristics of memory.
The reason I added the cooling unit is because I have had serious cooling problems with my last setup with no overclocking, yet having to put a fan (not a case fan, a full-size fan) blowing on the open chassis to keep it from shutting down from overheating under load. |

You will see no difference at all between 800 and 1066. AMD CPU coolers are excellent you don't need an after market cooler.
