Second Build
Hey all, I built my first desktop about 5 years ago when I graduated High School, now it's time for my second after graduating college. I'm working on a budget since I'm broke this time too! Any comments are appreciated on compatibility or if I can go cheaper:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649 MB: Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P AM3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...70T-UD3P%20AM3 Video Card: SAPPHIRE 100258-1GHDMI Radeon HD 4850 1GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102837 RAM: 4gb OCZ Gold DDR3 1066 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20DDR3%201066 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 320gb HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136098 Case: Antec Sonata III 500 Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%20III I plan on running Windows 7 and also plan on doing some gaming. Mostly Starcraft II when it comes out. Would prefer to run new games on high settings but it's never really been a concern for me so I could let that slide. I've already got Mouse/Keyboard and a monitor. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Agree that the 1GB Video card could be trimmed down. Unless running very high-res like beyond 1920x1080 you will not see the difference between a 512Mb and the 1Gb. Those resolutions would be if you were using a 24" monitor or above.
If you are storing media files like audio and video, you might want to get a larger HDD. 640 and 750 drives are only slightly more expensive. Looks good otherwise! |

Thanks a bunch for the tips. Decided to go with both the bigger hard drive and 512mb vid card.
