Usb 3 ?

Hello all
Newbie here, considering his first build, few things I am not to clear on.

1. USB 3, I was told that it was coming out soon, and that I should wait for it, any truth there? Exactly what is USB 3, I know that a USB port is what we plug all our things like mp3's an cameras into, but to get USB 3, is it incorporated into the mobo, or is just a software thing?

2. Direct X 11, same thing, I was told that it would be wise to wait for it, am I correct that it is incorporate into the video card, how important is Direct X 11 to someone that is not into gaming?

Sorry if I am not explaining myself to clearly here.

Thanks

Well, its been about 5 days now an no response, so I guess there is something wrong with this question.
If someone would be kind enough to explain what it is I would be very grateful.

Thanks

USB 3.0 is not on the market yet. If you have computer needs now I would not recommend waiting. Devices to take advantage may be even further away.
Unless you have needs to have high-speed externally connected devices it's mostly a nice-to-have.

Directx 11 - don't worry about it. Especially if not a gamer.

The only DX11-capable cards are close to release are the ATI 5850 and 5870. They are scheduled to populate shelves the first week in november. They aren't cheap, since they are sitting in the $375-$400 range.

It's really not going to make much of a difference, especially since game companies are somewhat slow to adopt new DX versions.

USB 3... the spec was finalized last year, but no hardware currently has it, nor have there really been any announcements about future hardware plans. As it stands, the spec seems to be at a standstill.

Bottom line, if those were the only two items you were hoping to address, only one is worth waiting for, but only if you're willing to pay the premium price to be one of the first users to have it (ie, DX11)
