Looks good to me. Never used HIS before, but they're on the excellent list for video card company quality on the forums. The rest of the brands look good, the mobo, ram, and processor are all compatible.

I did find this RAM for a bit cheaper, and Crucial is a good brand:

The video card is more important than the CPU. I wouldn't worry about getting a better CPU for gaming unless you get a better video card first.

Yup, the video card will be the bottleneck for gaming, not the the CPU.

well I'm going to order everything today, or tomorrow (if I cant get my unemployment card to go through), I know I'm possible taking a chance with the power supply, but well see, after all cooler master is listed on the list as being good, or can somebody recommend a better psu that will suit my needs at this price point?

like that one, but read one of the reviews claiming that the cables are to short for a bottom mounted psu case like the one I'm about to order. Should this be a concern? or should I just go ahead and order it?

You should be able to get the connector to reach your motherboard, although you may not have enough slack for routing the cable for cable management. If the cable is not long enough, you can either get a cable extender or send the unit back.

we'll I'll just have to wait and see. I also read the response from OCZ to the persons claim saying that the case manufacturer should provide the extensions free of charge because their cases are not standard ATX compliant. what do you guys think?is this true?

Spend the extra $10 bucks and pick up 8pin and 24pin cable extensions, then not have to worry about it. Worse case, you won't be able to run the cables behind mobo tray to hide them.

SO I received the parts today, and I'm very exited about my first build. Thanks everybody for helping me choose the parts. Sadly I won't start building it until tomorrow

OH and about the cables not reaching, I took out the psu and the case and it seems that it will reach, so hopefully that won't be a problem

In the meantime can anybody offer any recommendations for a smooth build? I already have a anti static wrist strap.

PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

Make sure your core components work before sticking things in the case.

So I just finished my very first build and I'm very happy with the results, everything seems to work but I'm curious if the very first screen at start up which says "loading assus express gate" is normal and after it the regular startup screen appears (where you can go to bios etc) then another screen that reads something like the Following
"marvel ss61se adapter
no hardisk detected"
Then once again the regular startup screen appears followed by the windows 7 startup. Is this all normal? I think ss61se was one of the drivers I installed from the disk it probably didnt install properly? if so how can I get rid of it, or make it right?

That's normal. That just means no disc drive is connected to the ports that use the Marvel controller (I think IDE ports, and maybe eSATA ports on your board use the Marvel chip).

Also, like you said, the express gate thing is normal. The express gate is a nice little feature from ASUS that allows you to enter basic Internet browsing, messaging, etc. without having to wait for the entire computer to boot up - too bad my ASUS board don't have it, my old one did and I loved it.

If you don't have any drives connected to the Marvell controller, you can uninstall the driver and disable it in the bios. You can also disable Express Gate in the bios.

thanks a lot guys for all your help. and there's one more issue I'm wondering about (I'm probably being too picky) when I go into the device manager there is an unknown device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. I don't know what it might be, I already tried the usb ports on the motherboard, case and rosewill card reader and and they recognize my usb drive

Start disconnecting USB devices till it goes away to figure out which one is the problem.
