Trobleshootin' hardware

This time, my computer didn't literally explode, but it still doesn't work.

It all started this morning. I woke up and hit the power button. All I got was a beep code. Man, now how I wish I had thought to remember that beep code. I turned it off, waited a few seconds, and it powered on successfully. After having been on a few hours, I came back and started up some music and a game. I started noticing weird distortions in the background image of the menu screen. It was like chunks of lines were intermittently out of sync. So I played for a few minutes, and then it was dead.
I can't figure out exactly what was causing the problem. I tried turning it on again, but all that happened was a fan twitch. Nothing else. No beep codes anymore. I opened 'er up, and I checked both sticks of RAM. Removing either made no difference. As I continued to poke around, I bumped the power cable to my motherboard. The fans jumped as if I had turned it on. But now the fans stopped jumping. Hitting the power button does nothing. Even the light on the mobo has gone dead.
So, now what can I try?

It's a P5B-E mobo with 2 GB corsair memory, Intel dual core processor. I have 2 hard drives, a 200 GB Seagate and a 1 TB Maxtor. Let's see... an 8800 GT video card, a wireless card, and a Hauppauge tv tuner. It's all in a Antec Sonata II case with a 450 W power supply that came with the case. With a Liteon optical drive.
