Building a gaming desktop (1st time)
First time posting on this forum and building a desktop mainly for games like Crysis and Devil May Cry 4.
Budget: Under $500 CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA785G-UD3H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Found a CPU and motherboard combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.297209 RAM: I need help choosing one. I'm thinking about 4GB RAM Fan/Heatsink: ZALMAN CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler PSU: Antec earthwatts EA500 500W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.0 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Case: I care about the inside not the outside http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147075 OS: Need recomendations Tell me if I'm missing something and I also need some tips. I wouldn't recommend the combo as I don't think Biostars are the best. Plus there are better boards for less money.
For ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166 Now, you'll probably want a dedicated graphics card if you're gaming. I'm not a big gamer, so I'll let someone else make suggestions for the card, but what card you get may also influence what motherboard you get, as well. |

You don't need to spend money on a CPU fan/heatsink. When you puchase a CPU it already comes with a fan & heatsink.
OS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-754-_-Product If your budget allows it try to stick to ASUS or Gigabyte for your motherboard...ASUS being the better of the two.

You are not going to play Crysis on a $500 computer, much less anything with onboard video.

For Crysis, you need at least a $150 video card.
