Strange Buzzing noise from my ASUS P6T7 MB
So I've had my system up and running for a couple months now and yesterday after it was running for about 8 hours it started making this buzzing noise that goes off twice every 10 seconds. My first thought was it was overheating and some sort of alarm so I rebooted and went to the BIOS to check the CPU and MB temps. They are running normal as far as I can tell.
CPU 42c - 107f MB 40c - 104f This was after being on almost all day. I recorded a 1 minute video so you can hear the noise. It's not the BIOS beep noise, it's more like a buzzer type noise. It appears to be coming from around the CPU as you can tell when I move the flip camera around it gets louder when around the CPU. ASUS P6T7 Motherboard noise Here's the specs: ASUS P6t7 WS Motherboard i7 950 Processor CoolerMaster V10 CPU/Memory cooler 12GB OCZ Gold Memory PNY Quadro FX 4800 video card 2x 300GB SAS drives - RAID 0 OS drive 2x 1TB drives for data. Any help woulod be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays! FYI - It started after the system was running for about 8 hours but now does it constantly, immediately at power on. |

Take a roll from a paper towel, put it up to your ear and start moving the other end of the roll around your computer. I know it sounds bizarre, but it works.

sounds like something is caught up in your v10 cpu fan. I would try that first, unplug the v10 and see if it goes away. Nice computer by the way

David - great idea!
I tried that and was able to narrow the sound down to the CoolerMaster V10! Strangely though, it wasn't one of the fans but the noise dissappeared after I unplugged the TEC cooling power cable on the bottom side of the V10. |
