My First Build

Hey Guys, my computer has crapped out and I am looking at building a new one. I have been reading the forums and reviews a lot and think I have a good idea of what I am doing. But I haven't really kept up on all the new computer stuff, so just wanting to get some input on my build. It will be a general use computer with some gaming. Mosty games like Crysis and the Last Remnent. So I wanted to make sure I would be able to run those as well. From the parts I have I am in my budget range of 1100 to 1400 CDN.

LITE-ON Black 24X DVD Writer Black SATA Model iHAS-324-98 - Retail

Logitech Z313 2.1 Speaker System - Retail

Any input you guys have on the parts and whether you would change anything would be good. I have checked the Asus QVL to make sure the ram is good. Total price on all the parts comes to: 1237.90 CDN. Right in my budget with some room to move if needed. All items are from newegg.ca. First time posting and not sure how to link the products.
Thanks for your input.

I'd recommend the 750GB WD caviar black because it's like $5 for ~100GB of storage Unfortunately both are sold out.

WD caviar blue 640GB
I suppose that would suffice if your looking for a HDD right now, unless you would prefer to wait and get a black that has twice the buffer ^^

This person is in Canada and will not be buying from newegg.com. The 640 Black is in stock at newegg.ca, and the 750 is not even listed.

The Evo board is a waste of money, the straight P7P55D is all you need.

Get the standard ram, not the DHX. Same price.

In the message composition window, there is a button for inserting links (underneath fonts and sizes and text colors), but you can also paste a URL directly into your message. The forum software will mark-up a URL as clickable automatically.

If you are using Firefox: choose the window or tab whose URL you want to get; CTL-L will highlight its location; CTL-C will copy that to your clipboard; then CTL-V to paste it into your forum message.

In IE, you can use TAB to highlight the location, or I think also ALT-D, but I can't remember exactly.

I mentioned this in another thread: I was considering this unit too. If you're interested, CDRInfo has a test and review that I thought was quite good:

Thanks for the info everyone. That was a good read Steve. I think I am going to find a different model as I am more interested in the burn rates than the read rates. If you have any good suggestions let me know.
I have switched the motherboard and Ram as per GLC's comments. If you guys have any other reccomendations feel free to let me know. I am probably going to be putting my order in after Christmas, and will be running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
Thanks again,
Shaun
