help trouble shooting new build
having some hiccups and need advice...
just built this - GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD4P LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i5-750 G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 win 7 64bit went together ok and runs. everything looks great but i'm having some 'freeze' issues. off and on the computer just sticks for a sec (1/2 to 1 1/2 secs) and then starts up again. this happens during all applications - internet browsing with explorer or chrome. gaming (so far only played DoD and TF2 on steam). general maintenance, etc. i've done some simple optimization stuff like killing the gadgets and turning off alot of the eyecandy like shadows etc. haven't made any serious registry/page file changes yet. windows auto update has run and it says i'm good. i updated by video card driver to the following - 195.62/195.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit thats all i can think of. any help would be great, thanks alot. |

At what point after you installed Win7 did the freezes start ?
Have you ever had any problem, no matter how brief, booting the computer ?

brand new build, win 7 was the 1st disc in the drive. no issues at all with any booting or anything really, except this stuttering. happening regularly from minute one.
googling around turned up a guy with stuttering that seemed related to SATA ports. i currently have my HD in SATA2_0 and my optical in GSATA2_0. also an empty front panel SATA slot in SATA2_1. any issue with this setup...my manual doesn't give any recommendations for layout. thanks. |

You are describing a hardware problem.
What is your power supply and have you re-checked all your connections ? |
