Computer keeps restarting

I am currently bulding my first PC. When I turn the PC on and the BIOS screen appears. The computer keeps on restarting after about 15 secs. The hardware I'm using is a ASRock P55 Pro motherboard, Core i7 processor, 2GB DDR3 memory, DDR3 graphics card and a 750 watt PSU. I've connected the PSU to the 24 pin ATX socket and the 8 pin 12V socket. I've also connected the system panel connections and the CPU fan. Is there anything else I've missed out. Is there any jumpers I have to set?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you don't have the CPU heatsink on correctly or it isn't fully latched in.
Please post the brand/model of the video card and PSU. A cheap PSU can cause strange problems.

The heatsink wasn't in properly but I think it's fitted ok now. Although the computer is still resetting. My graphics card is a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4670 and the power supply is 750W Win Power. Do I have to put thermal paste onto the processor? The heatsink already had some on it.

Applying a fresh coat of thermal paste is very important to increase thermal conductivity rate between the surface of your cpu and a heatsink assembly.

The link below will give you a good guide in re-applying a fresh coat of grease. Without the grease, your cpu temperature(s) will be higher to the point it may reach T[sub]j[/sub] level.

Do you have any type of a P.O.S.T. diagnostic tool available?
