Need a second set of eyes on this new build before I order!
This will technically be my third build but I have kind of been out of the loop for a while now. I wanted to run this by you guys and gals like I did on my last two because they both worked out great!
The parts list from Newegg: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400 - Retail Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664AA800 - Retail EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Retail Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM I plan on using these parts from my old PC: Antec Sonata II case, Antec NeoPower HE 550 PSU, Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card, Sony DVD/CD-RW drive, and my wonderful Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's Any glaring issues with this set up? My goal with this build is to have a solid all around build that will last me a few years and will play Company of Heroes on full/mostly full settings. I used the memory finder on newegg for the mobo, will those sticks be compatible? Also, will the Neo 550 PSU be adequate for this build? I will not be overclocking anything on this. I just want to make sure I don't have any bottlenecks ![]() Thanks! Last edited by ZedX3; 12-20-2009 at 08:22 PM. |

Looks good for the most part however I would make two suggestions; if you plan on using the computer for a longer period of time and/or you play RTS games, go with a quad core, something like this will work well with the rest of the parts: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115131.
I would also look at a different video card; the 9800GTX+ is quite an old card and doesn't have good performance for the buck or good power efficiency; the GTS250 is bascially the same as the 9800GTX+ but is smaller has better power efficiency and costs less: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261051, another option is the HD5750 from ati which has slightly better performance and new features like DX11: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102859
