Need advice
My sons Dell Optiplex GX400 computer died recently, and is a EOL unit that is not worth rebuilding. I recently found a Dell Dimension 8200 on an auction site that have similar specifications, P4 processor, PC800 non ECC RDRAM, Intel 850 chipset. The unit was being sold without the HDD or OS. I figure that the drivers would be pretty close to being the same, and was wondering if I took the HDD out of the Optiplex, would it work in the Dimension computer.
I also have the recovery cd for the Optiplex, and the Dimension drivers are available for downloading off the Dell website. |

Dell Windows reinstallation CD's will work in any Dell, they are generic and not model specific. All you need are drivers.
