New Built PC Windows7 Screen Freezes Sometimes

CASE: Thermaltake Full Tower Case

MB: GiGabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

CPU: Intel Quad Q8200

RAM: GSKILL DDR2 800 2 X 2 GB = 4GB

VIDEO: MSI N9400GT Graphics Card

PS: CORSAIR TX650W

HDD: WD 320GB Retail

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Retail - 32 bit

I have built a PC with above specs and installed OS, Drivers. Updated all the MOBO and VGA drivers. System is working good.
But sometimes (not always) the screen gets freezed and Display gets diminished colors. I am not able to operate either mouse or Keyboard
when this happens. All I need to do is press Reset button again to start over.

I do not open many windows and not play any games on PC. Still "Screen Freeze" happens. On one occassion when I did RESET (Restart) the system "stopped" on GIGABYTE boot menu and nothing happened after waiting for several minutes. Then I went inside (press DEL) and selected "LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS" and "LOAD FAIL SAFE DEFAULTS". It worked well.

But the initial problem of "Screen Freeze" still did not got resolved. Sometimes still this happens. Can anyone please let me know if it is Hardware or Software problem?

Thanks

very simple test to find if it is a software problem is to uninstall all your video drivers, clean your registry. Reboot and install a fresh copy of the video drivers from the manufacturer of the graphics card (MSI in your case). I'm very much inclined to believe that it is a software problem. The only concern with respect to a possible hardware issue would be an insufficient cooling to the gpu but the fact that a system reset clears the fault means that it could not be an overtemp condition.
I do want to recommend to use a manual way of selecting your driver over an auto method as it ensures that you are getting the most appropriate driver for your device.
