Question New Build i7-920

This system will be used for some gaming, surfing, photo editing..... that sort of stuff. This is what I have so far:

CPU Intel Core i7 920
Motherboard ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58
Memory OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Value 6GB Triple Channel Kit
PowerSupply Antec 750W Power Supply
Case Coolmaster RC690
Graphic Card Sapphire Radeon 4890 Vapor-X 2G DDR5 PCI-E
Hard Drive X 2 WD Caviar Black 3.5 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB SATA 2
DVD Drive X 2 LG 22X Internal SATA w/Lightscribe Black
OS Windows 7 Home Prem 64 bit

I had a difficult time with the Graphic Card, really not sure considering there is such a variety out there.
Could use suggestions for the memory, is 6GB overkill....
Also not sure about the mobo, reviews were good and the price is fantastic.

Any suggestions....comments??

The *ONLY* X58 motherboard that is known solid and stable is the Asus P6T Deluxe V2. Get that, and get DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 ram that's on the Asus QVL for the board. I would also get a single 1tb drive instead of two 500's, RAID is not worth the hassles.

To save money, take a close look at an Asus P7P55D and an i7-860.

Thanks GLC

I've changed to the suggested mobo and to the following memory listed on the QVL:
OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Intel 6GB Triple Channel Kit

I did originally look at the i7 but unfortunately it is more expansive then the i9 where I live. I might save on the motherboard but the savings wouldn't be much. I was also looking at the i5, the difference in price would be $150 for the build...is this worth it??

That is a dual channel board, not a triple channel board. Get one 2x2 kit for 4gb or two kits for 8gb.

You absolutely do not need ram that fast - get DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 and make sure it's on the Asus QVL for that board.

The next processor under the i7-860 for that socket is the i5-750. These are socket 1156 items, not 1366.

Talking Oops

I meant to say in my last post that I did look into the i7-860 over the i7-920, it is however about $20 more for some reason. I would end up saving about $50 for the i7-860 build (mobo is cheaper)
I then looked into the i5-750, with the different motherboard (P7P55D Deluxe) required and mostly the same parts for the rest. I would save about $150 for this build. Not sure if dropping down to the i5 is worth it for that amount.

GLC, I thought the Asus P6T Deluxe V2 is a triple channel board? I did find DDR3-1600 memory that is on the QLV for this board.

I'm talking about the P7P55D. That's a dual channel board. Other than a slight difference in clock speed, the only difference between the socket 1156 i5 and i7 is hyperthreading. You do not need the Deluxe board, the P7P55D has all you need, but if you want USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0, the P7P55D-E is only $10 more than the P7P55D.
