New computer

So today I put together a new computer, but I can't seem to get the power supply to work it seems, but I'm not sure if I have something else wrong or not. I plug it in, turn on the switch in the back, and all I hear is just a little soung, no fan moving or nothing. Anybody have any ideas? btw, it is a thermaltake 500w power supply.

Well, I did that test, and it worked. So I put it all back in the case and hit the startup button on the case, and the most I have gotten in a quick light, and I have heard one sound. So not sure if I don't have a power cord connected right, or am missing something, or have a short somewhere. So was wondering what I should check next, ect. Thanks for all the help so far everyone.

Don't put the WHOLE THING back in the case - just the basics you had it working with on the table. Make sure THAT works before you start reconnecting everything else.

Inspect your wires from the front case panel to the motherboard's system panel connector. It's easy to miss some pins.

I put those back in the case, put the screwdriver to the 2 pins, and it started up fine. But there is a 2 pin connector in the front, which I don't know where to connect it from. So where should I go from here now?
