New Build Troubleshooting

Just built my own PC for the first time. Everything went well, except for a couple of things.

1. When the computer boots, it goes to the MB screen, then intializes, then it says " warning Adapter 1 no hard disk found." Yet the HDD shows up in the Bios. And I installed Win 7 on the HDD. Do I need to update the BIOS, or install drivers for the HDD? It is a WD Caviar Blue 640 GB.

2. When I formatted the HDD using Win 7, I ended up with C: only being 100 MB(which Win 7 copied itself to, D: is 100 GB and ended up with a E: the balance. Do I even need to partition the HDD? And how do I get Win 7 into D:? Just built the system so no other programs are installed.

My System, mostly record keeping, mapping, spreadsheet type work. Once a while will play Call of Duty for a brief time.

Am considering sending the PSU back. Does it matter if the fan is in the rear of the PSU or bottom/top of the PSU? Seems a rear fan would be better to me. Thinking of going Antec, but this one was cheap. Re-thinking that decision now.

Would go for the Antec PSU, Rosewill PSUs have spoty quality between models.
As for the partition issues, there should have been a window that would have asked what size to make the C: partition when installing Win 7. Haven't worked with Win 7 yet, so will let others familiar with it give you the correct answaer.

I would, since it's a new build, start over from the beginning with the install.

So first, make sure you've to the HDD connected to SATA 1 and the optical should be on SATA 2, double check in the manual.
Your initial boot order in the bios puts the optical drive first, this is not the same as connecting it to SATA 1 (In your case it's likely this has to do with the partitions on the drive but double check anyway. ).

Delete the partitions , unless you have good reason to do otherwise the whole drive should be the primary (boot) partition, and format the drive and re-install the OS.

Remember when Win 7 ask, it's the whole drive, one partition for the whole thing.

note : I run Win 7 64 bit.

I see no video card listed. Depending on what the specs for the video card, you may want more than 450 watts.
