Been about 3 years since my last system build and my wife needs a new computer so I'm building to pass my current system on to her (again! lol)
Haven't been in the loop in regards to hardware vendors since my last build is why I'm posting for a review. Please let me know what you think. Note I am building this as a business computer (mainly) with moderate gaming potential, but leaving room for upgrades in the future. If possible I would like to save a few bucks vs what I have listed below (not counting buying from a different company). Is there anything here that is overkill? Memory? PSU watts? Don't touch the raid10 -- i want that ![]() Code:

I would get the base P7P55D board instead of the Sabertooth, but replace that i3 with a i5-750.
I also want to discourage a RAID 10 on a motherboard controller - get a 1 tb WD Black and an external drive for doing backups. Leave RAID to dedicated hardware addon cards and RAID 5. I'd also recommend a different brand video card - and consider an ATI chipset too. A Radeon 5770 is more futureproof than anything from Nvidia. 750 watts is a bit overkill, but the price on that one is right. |

As long as the memory is on the Asus QVL you are good to go. If you want USB 3.0 and SATA 6, the P7P55D-E is only $10 more.
