New Build: Gone Wrong!
Over the past two days i put everything together. Im almost positive everything is right, ive done lots of prior research. Anyways..
My setup: AMD Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103704 ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131381 Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 Modular Active PFC Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371016 WINTEC AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161183 Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136283 SAPPHIRE 100245HDMI Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102824 Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129066 The Symptoms: Appon startup the fans kick on, there is a faint beep, a green lgiht turns on on on the motherboard (when PSU is plugged in), a red light blinks slowly on the video card. I then sits there. Nothing shows on the monitor, the keyboard dose not light up, the mouse does not light up, the CPU dosnt even warm up! Cliffs -Fans work (4 case, 1 CPU, 1VID, 1 PSU) -faint start up beep -solid green light ON on the motherboard -flashing red light on the graphics card -mouse/keyboard fail to light up -no visual display on monitor. Any ideas? Any troubleshooting ideas? I already removed the RAM and was waiting for a loud beep appon startup (someone said i should hear a constant beep with the ram removed). Someone also mentioned that my BIOS version could be outdated and that it is not compatable with my CPU. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Are all the necessary power leads plugged into the motherboard? You'll need the main power connector and the 4-pin power connector (located near the CPU).
Try re-seating the video card. Did you try assembling the components outside of the case to get a POST? motherboard, PSU, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, video card, and monitor PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!! Until you get a complete POST, you won't be able to update the BIOS.

Do you have another video card you can try? Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something to get some output to see if the problem is with the video card, or something else.
