New Case, Won't Boot
Hey all, I'm really hoping you guys can help me out again. I've migrated an old compact into a new case and now it won't boot. The light on the motherboard is on but that's about all I get. Everything fits alright and it's all hooked up but I can't get the damned thing to boot. The led-power connectors are a bit different: the original was one connector but the new case has them split up. I using the original connector (which is broken) I traced which wire goes where and I'm pretty sure that's all in order. It's really driving me crazy, and ideas? Thanks in advance.

AreaMan, it's rather easy to mix the (and perhaps bring down the 5 volt rail) connectors to your system panel connector. Looking at the individual connector (POWER, RESET, HDD LED, and PLED) all the "+" positive wires will be on your left side of the connector (looking at the individual connector with the description label facing you). Not sure if you have a "Q-quick" connector which makes things a bit easier. All the negative feed wires will be of the same colour (be it black or white) and the positive will be of different colour (orange,red,green..).

If you followed the instructions, you have a hardware failure.
Power supply CPU Motherboard Ram Video card (unless the motherboard has onboard video) However, I suspect you aren't shorting the correct 2 posts with the screwdriver. |

The situation has changed a bit. I kept trying the screw driver method and it turned on. Then I turned it off the same way, now it wont turn back on? I'm starting to think it's a faulty power supply?

When using the screwdriver, turn it off with the rocker switch on the back of the power supply or pull the AC cord.
