New build with no time.Is it worth it ??

Greetings all...

Stumbled across this forum tonight.

What a wealth of info !!
I have been contemplating possiibly building a new computer for the family.
I have been to Micro Center and BB looking for a new desktop and have not been overly impressed with my options.

Computer will be used by family of 8.
Purchasing a new 24" Samsung monitor.
Computer will be used for everyday use.
Homework
Internet surfing
Kids with tons of I-Tunes
Online bill paying.

It has been mentioned to me that running a 24" monitor that I should use a non integrated video card with 1 GB ram.

Current computer is a 2007 Dell Optiplex 320 Minitower

Budget is approx $600.00 - $800.00

I have never assembled a computer before and not so sure I want to tackle this but I do want quality components.May just try to find someone in the St Louis, MO. area to do this.

Suggestions on build and a reliable computer tech in my area to assemble is much appreciated.

Ron

I'll send a PM to one of the members here that is in the STL area that has a side business doing computers, and I'll let him advise you.

I will say that you don't need a dedicated video card unless gaming is in the equation.

I would go with build 1 all the way!! Those i3s are rockets in comparisson to the Pentium Dual cores, the $100 is definately worth it. If there is extra money add an ATI 5450 to the build, windows 7 shines with a video card, regardless if you are gaming or not.

Only $10 more for the 1GB or $2 less for the 512MB. Good suggestion.

SAPPHIRE 100292L Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB 64-bit DDR2 - $54.99

The H55/Clarkdale combo is supposedly one of the best onboard videos out there.
