new build old HD

Can anyone see any problems that would be encountered when using my existing C drive with Windows XP pro as the OS on that drive, as the first drive to boot a new MB/CPU? I cannot see how I would go wrong.

Are you familiar with the term DRIVERS?
Unless the new machine is identical as the old machine - yes there will be problems.

Most of the time a Repair Install of the OS will fix it.

A lot of old drives are IDE, and some new motherboards do not support IDE at all. Most have limited support, maximum of two devices. If you keep the IDE hard drive and IDE optical drive from the old system, they must both be on the same cable, which is often a nightmare.

decided just to get a new 500GB Seagate and use my XP retail to do a clean install. Problem solved. BTW all my drives are SATA except for the optical. Thanks for all the responses. this thread is quits as far as I am concerned.
