The last time I built a computer was around 04 or 05. I hope to do it again. This forum was very helpful to me. I have no special plan for this computer other than pictures and home videos. Only thing I could suggest is dropping that specific hard drive for a WD black 750GB. It is going to be faster as your main drive with the 32MB cache and it is $20 cheaper.

I myself am not a fan of Samsung's optical drives. I normally use LG or Lite-On...

That's an awfully strong video card for a non-gaming box. I'd go with a lesser video card and upgrade the motherboard to a P7P55D-E.

No way can you make good utilization of DDR3-2000 memory. Go with DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600, and if you get G.skill, go with the regular stuff, not the Ripjaws.

Thank you for the info, could you be more specific about which P7P55D-E? I see the Pro LGA, the Deluxe LGA, the Premium LGA and then just the LGA.

Please suggest a better video card.

How is this for the memory? If not will you suggest something? Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT25664BA1339

There is only one P7P55D-E.

Confirm this is not a gaming machine. If it's not, this is all you need for a video card:

You can also save significantly on a power supply, I assume you want a modular for cable management:

I will go with the P7P55D-E, however I don’t understand why it is an upgrade; will you explain?

I appreciate the suggestion for the video card. Should I be concerned about the Fan?

I like you memory suggestion as well as the power supply.

Thanks for your time and help.

The LE is the entry-level board. The -E has added SATA 6.0 and USB 3.0 for future components and is a more fully featured board.

Any video card fan is subject to failure, that's what a warranty is for.
