New PC built.
Hi all,
I am a first time pc builder and would like to get the advice of some people just a touch better at it then i am. I am going to buy the case and psu first and in bout a month get the rest of the componets. At least thats the plan. Might not be able to wait after i get the first couple parts. I want to build a PC that will play all the newest game, and te games in the years to come. I have done some reading about this issue but as i stated never actually built one before so i would appericate all the input i could get. This is my parts list as of now. Case= http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...=ITD&body=MAIN Psu=http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4434988&CatId=2533. Is this enough. Thats really all i wanted to buy for the time being. I am kinda unsure about what mobo to get. Gpu graphics. Nvidia or Ati? should i go i7? Gonna be mostly gaming. Watching movies. and such. Any good sugestiions on a moniter? Wanna keep it under 200-250 bucks. |

First, your link for the PSU doesn't work.
Second, would look at www.newegg.com for parts. Better selection, good customer service and they don't try to sell crap with flowery discriptions. Would wait in buying a PSU until you know what the video card will be and the rest of the system. Then you get a PSU that matches your specs with a little head room. Also, would be good to provide a budget, so we can spec to it. Monitors: Asus, Viewsonic,Dell. A 21 or maybe a 24" should fit in the 200-250 range.

First off, thnks for the quick reply. Sorry the link didn't work. My budget is $2000. Of corse if i could save a few dollars here and there great. I have already reconsidered the waiting to finish the build. Here is the new list.

Waiting anxiously for your valued input. |

I'm very new to all of this, so please take my advice with a hefty grain of salt, but...
I would recommend a Lynnfield quad (like the i5-750 quad or the i7-860) over the Clarkdale dual core. If it's clock speed you're looking for, I've read that the i5-750 is incredibly overclockable. But even then, you probably won't need it. My i5-750 is smoking fast and the turbo boost feature kicks it into high gear when I need it - which will preserve the life of your CPU, a definite plus. |

Unless you are totally in love with nvidia I would get an ATI, the nVidia GTX200 cards are powerful but are pretty much obsolete and on the verge of being replaced with the GTX300 series.
triquee is correct, the i5-750 is the right CPU for the money in the Intel roster. Either go with 2 x 2GB sticks of Ram or 4 x 2GB sticks of RAM, this motherboard is not triple channel, it is a dual channel. Since you are building such a nice system I would like to urge you to go with Corsair memory instead of OCZ, OCZ have not been very good at taking care of RMA and their customer support is slipping plus the rate of failure on their products is rising. Here is a set of Corsair http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-260-_-Product or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-284-_-Product

Replace the CPU with an i5-750 and the Seagate ES2 with a Western Digital Black, and get dual channel ram kits.
