New Build/OS wont boot
Went through Windows 7 install. Not sure if it installed correctly. Did not restart multiple times during install as stated by Windows install instructions.
Was not responding after waiting 30 minutes had to push start button momentarily to wake up screen, and continue. Installed to new Seagate 250G HD It finished with Desktop and I restarted to reset BIOS for boot order. This is a SATA drive and dont know if I have to assign a particular SATA position. Boot order set to HD first Every setting in BIOS is at default. HD drive ID number shows in Boot and CMOS Windows will not start up. I am receiving 1 short MB beep at start-up. According to FAQ's- Could need to replace new board ? Bad Hard Drive ? I have another (same) I could try and reinstall Win 7 with. The single beep is normal.
Try reinstalling Windows and this time try rebooting when it asks you to.

Did the windows finish installing the first time? Maybe just try reinstalling win 7. Also, check your boot order in the bios to be sure it is set to boot from the hard drive you want it to.

Success
The Gigabyte MB did not come with on board video.
Graphics card installed did not have drivers for W7. Had to disable card in safe mode and go to low resolution. W7 was there all the time. Downloading drivers now Perhaps this could be included in FAQ's section for installing MB's without on board video. OS does not appear after booting. Thanks for the help. Sorry to bother you guys. Great Forum ! |

Hello stymie222,
Did you check compatibility with Windows 7? Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.) http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software". There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%! As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed. Thanks again, John M. Microsoft Windows Client Support |

Compatibility
Thanks. I did try several programs such as Adobe Acrobat 5 in compatibilty mode with no success. I even carried it back to 98.
Nero 6 did not work either- XP, XP SP2or3. I was forced to get alternative programs. I have tried several other programs and games with no success at all, in fact it has never worked for me. Perhaps you could try yourself with the above programs to see what fix Windows needs. |
