Mobo BIOS and Optical drive?

First time computer builder here.

All the stuff is supposed to arrive today minus the video card (darnit.)

This is my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131405

ASUS P7P55D PRO LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Xtreme Design w/ SLI+CrossfireX, 12+2 power phase/T.Probe

I was reading a bunch of reviews and they recommend updating the BIOS "as it will solve some problems".

How do I do that?

EDIT: A little bit off topic but my

is OEM. I just bought an entire build through new egg, will there be an extra set of cables from all the other components that i'll be able to use or am i going to need to order a SATA cable and some screws?

Thanks in advance, i love this forum

The motherboard should come with the cables you need. As for the screws, the motherboard may have some, the HD and DVD drive may come with some. So look for small zip lock bags.
As for the BIOS update, generally you update if that newer version would fix a problem you have. Most BIOS updates are for the latest and greatest CPUs. At this time wouldn't worry about it.

For mounting the optical drive, the necessary hardware should come with your case. It varies with the case design but usually consists of some drive rails for sliding the drive into the case mount slot and some screws to attach the drive rails to the optical drive. Consult your case manual.
