Motherboard Install Question

When you're installing the motherboard into the PC Case, is it necessary to use and screw it in through every screw hole on the motherboard? I'm asking this because the case I got for some weird reason only came 8 metal standoffs (total). but the motherboard has 9 screw holes. I'm guessing I can't, but I just wanna make sure.

and if I can't, where do I get the other standoff from?

oh well that's good to hear. as long as I can continue building it's a not big deal. I just wanted to make sure I didn't fry the motherboard or something beacuse I only screwed it in through 8 holes.

There are probably a few holes along the backplane....Leave one of those empty and not a hole on a corner.

I'd fill all the holes along the backplane - otherwise you may have issues getting cards fully inserted into the slots, the board may flex on you. I'd leave the center hole open in the middle of the board.

OK, now I have another question. I didn't feel like I had to start a new thread so I'll just use this one. I notice that the HDD LED front end cable doesn't reach the header on my motherboard. all the other ones reach and I've put them into a q-connector and hooked them in, but the HDD LED one is just too short no matter how hard I try. Is there something that I can do about this? I was just going to not hook it in for now.
