Emergency build

Hey all, it looks as though my motherboard is dead. It came out of a dell vostro (core 2 duo) a while ago.
Instead of just replacing the mobo I’ve decided to buy a new mobo, cpu, ram, psu.
The PCU will be a solid antec. I’m looking at the Intel Core i7-930 2.8GHz (I’m assuming it’s a Lynnfield) and the Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz. there isn’t much of price difference, but I keep hearing that the Bloomfield is preferable. Is there any troth to this?
For the motherboard I’m looking at the ASUS P7P55D-E
And for ram I’m thinking: CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
What do you guys think?

Why not get the Intel Core i7-930 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 Quad, instead of the 920? The price difference is minimal.

Core i7-9xx is Bloomfield.

Lynnfield would be Core i5-7xx/7xxS and Core i7-8xx/8xxS.

I'd suggest the i5-750.

That is a socket 1366 CPU and he is looking into getting a socket 1156 motherboard.

With that motherboard, your choices are the i5-750 and i7-860. I would not put those components in a Vostro case - I'd buy a generic case. Look at the Antec Sonata 3 500 - it comes with a Earthwatts 500 PSU. What are you going to use for a video card?

Thanks for pointing that incompatibility! I have a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4550 that i'm going to use that. I'm also going to pick up an antec 300 (i've used that case for builds before and I like it) and that comes wit a ANTEC BP430 430W. Should I spring for the 500 earthwatt?
Also: Should I spring for the ASUS P6X58D Premium and keep the i7-930 2.8GHz or keep the ASUS P7P55D-E and get the i7-860? There's a big difference in price on the motherboards but will a notices the different processor?

The 430 is plenty for a 4550. Don't waste your money on the X58 platform - that's for enthusiasts and tweakers. You may not even need the i7 - the only difference between that and the i5-750 is hyperthreading and a slightly faster clock.
