Replacing ASUS m3a motherboard

I have a media center pc I built I just upgraded to windows 7. The only problem is with the motherboard (to be exact the atheros L1 gigabit network card on the ASUS m3a motherboard) The drivers of which suck and it disconnects constantly. I have no more room to add a new network card to solve the problem. So I have decided, since I would like to have some other features I don't have on this motherboard anyway to just upgrade the motherboard. However I want to keep all the rest of the equipment I have (I don't have the money to spend on a whole new setup. Given that this is a media center PC I would like it to have a HDMI out capable of 1080i/p very nice quality audio and plenty of usb 2.0 ports. Esata would be a plus as I am using a PCIe card right now to do that (a couple of esata is ideal) I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ processor. Radeon x1950 series graphics card (I don't HAVE to use this it doesn't have HDMI out but I use a vga converter right now) I may upgrade this in the future. 4gb DDR2 ram
Any suggestions? Something I can upgrade to the next generation of processors would help.
It has to fit in an ATX case as I don't want to have to change cases. The main point is to reuse all the hardware I already have and just change the motherboard. Potential for future upgrading would be preferable. Any suggestions? Something I can upgrade to the next generation of processors would help. Thanks guys!

welcome to pcmech forums.
I looked at the Asus motherboards and even though some of them support Am3/AM2+/AM2 and your processor is AM2 Windsor core, none of the boards are listing that they are compatible with it so the chance of upgrading to AM3 with an Asus is not likely if you want to continue using your current CPU.
Do you have room for another USB device?
If you do, here is a cheap solution to your problem without going through the hassle of replacing motherboards, dealing with bios issues and having to re-install windows! You should wait and upgrade your entire system when you can afford it in my opinion!

I have used these and I recommend them.
Hope this helps you out!
