Need help on a new build

here is my hardware:

CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
PSU:Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V
VGA:XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0
RAM:G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
MOBO:ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD

I upgraded to windows 7 64bit.... when i check the core speed it shows 800Mhz.. i have the latest drivers installed... flashed bios three times...

Any one might have a clue??? is it supposed to??

appreciate any advise.......

Stop flashing the bios.
If Win 7 is running well for you and the processor is correctly identified in Control Panel>System then consider that CPU-Z is giving you the wrong information.

Go to the forum : (This is the English board.) http://forum.canardpc.com/forumdispl...er=desc&page=2

and post a link to that screen shot there.

They'll be able to tell you what's happening and you may need to change the version you're using.

1. Download AMD Overdrive utility;

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_overdrive.aspx

2. Turn on the overdrive:

There are many amd specialty sites which deal with specifics of overclocking and other goodies.

thank you Iamjosh, i did installed and used the od option... running at 3.4.... just feel like something is causing system not ro run properly in the backgroud... not sure if this will actually fix the root of the problem......

at lease for now, i won't take a baseball bat to it.... I built two of these at the same time... one with 965 and one with 955; 955 is running beautifully at 3.2.....
