Start-up problem :l

Hi, new here, and new to building PC's. I've purchased everything for my PC, and from what I can see and the manuals say, I've got everything plugged in correctly. So after I got the innards all connected, I decided to try and boot it. So, I plugged in my TV (my monitor for now)'s HDMI cable straight into my motherboard's HDMI slot. Turned to the HDMI input. Nothing. I heard the single beep from my speaker. Then I plugged it into the video card's HDMI slot. Nothing again. Nothing will show up on the TV. RAM is in correctly, every fan is running (PC has 5 fans (3 from the case, 1 from CPU heatsink, other from video card)), CPU put in correctly.. SATA cords in right, USB plugged in.. HD Audio plugged in. And nothing. It seems nothing plugged into the back (USB's, keyboards, monitors) will work..

I'm going to run Windows XP. Keep in mind I didn't list every cord plugged into every slot.. too much room taken up. My disc drives open fine.. HDD has a power cord and a SATA plug coming out of it, hooked into the right outlets. I just have no clue what's wrong. Mobo defect? Something I'm missing? I don't know if anyone could really help.. if you need any more information about anything just ask, I could do my best to supply it.

HAF 922 Cooler Master Case

OCZ Platinum Low Voltage 4GB (x2 2GB) RAM
1TB 64MB/s Hard Drive (forget brand name
OCZ700SXS 700W Stealth Stream technology Power Supply

I'm a rank novice here, but I think that if you have your video card plugged in, it may automatically disable the video on the motherboard. At least, that happened to me once.

You may want to either remove your 5770 card, or connect your TV to the 5770's HDMI, one of the two.

If that doesn't work, you really should pull everything out of the case like shadowpr suggested.

Good luck.

By 'nothing' do you mean nothing on the screen or nothing happened at all besides the beep? Try taking your gpu out and reinstalling it. It seems the setup went well enough if you got the single 'successful first POST' beep, so it probably has to do with the video output.

Also, try a different monitor/tv. Preferably a regular monitor, just to make sure it isn't something related to the tv.

Might try this guide, in addition to the one already posted.

Also, the TV needs to be set for the HDMI input. The TV should have an input menu to select the type of video you want displayed.
