First build - help

Hello. I went today to look for the different parts i'm going to use to build my own gaming pc. my budget was around 1400 dollars, and here is the list of goodiesi think im gonna get:

-processor: intel core i7-930

-mobo: Gigabyte X58A-UD7

-RAM: 2x2GB DDR3

-GPU: Gigabyte GTS 250 1GB

i'm kind of a newbie at this sorry if there isn't enough info

So, would this be good for a gaming pc?

Also, i have a question: How does my pc connect to the internet after i've put everything together? (im talking wireless here ofc :P)

thank you very much

You do not need a high end i7 for a gaming rig. It's ALL in the video card. We also don't recommend X58 chipsets.

What is your budget?

Do you need a case and power supply or will you reuse the one you have?

Do you need a keyboard, mouse, and monitor, or will you will you reuse the one you have?

Do you need operating system software or will you reuse the one you have?

It helps to understand what the budget needs to cover.

Nvidia GTS250 is obsolete, it is a rebadged old 9800GTX which was never a good card to begin with.

What you want is a P55 motherboard from Asus, i5-750 CPU with an ATI 5850 video card

What exact type of "wireless Internet"? Is there a wireless router in the house connected to cable or DSL, or is the Internet totally wireless? Bottom line, exactly what does the computer have to connect to?

You can use any PCI, PCI-E, or USB wireless adapter that supports 802.11g. PCI or PCI-E recommended over USB.

Something like this that will plug directly into an available slot on your Motherboard.

It's up to you. Samsung is a good brand and while 17" is by no means big it should work fine for gaming. The max resolution is a bit low so if you want better looking games (or a larger image) you might want to shell out for a new monitor. You can get a good Asus 23" for under $200.
