Not only cheaper, but more stable:
Socket 1156. Use one of the Asus P7P55D boards and an i5-750 or i7-860. This will take dual channel ram - so get either 4gb or 8gb. Highly recommend Western Digital instead of Hitachi. If you use a D-Link router, get the matching D-Link card. |

Thanks for the reply glc.
Here's what I went ahead and switched to: Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard SAPPHIRE 100297L Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ ATI Eyefinity Technology (Since the video card I had was in a combo with the CPU/Mobo I had to add it by itself, and dropped down to the non "Call of Duty" edition.. which is fine) Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive (I was a bit leery about the Hitachi, but it had looked like too good of a deal to pass up at the time, glad it ran out of stock today because I found this WD on special... the WD I had selected previously was the same I think, or close, and was $109... this is $89 with promo code) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM (Will most likely purchase a 2nd one of these once I can fit it into the budget so I'll have 8GB) Will be pulling the trigger on this build tonight unless someone has any further suggestions.
