$600 budget gaming pc - already have graphics card
I'm looking to spend ~$600-$650 on the rest.
I don't expect to have a top of the line computer, but I'd like it to be able to run games with absolutely no problem such as Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 etc. I'd like something that won't be obsolete in 2 years, and something that I'll be able to upgrade. Hopefully that's not asking too much for my budget. Anyways here's the card that I already have Video Card - Not sure what information is relevant, so here's like half of what's on the box. HD4870 Sapphire Toxic 1GB GDDR5 Memory PCI-E version 2.0 "overclocked" I already have keyboard/mouse/monitor etc I plan on ordering from newegg.com but I don't want to accidentally buy things that aren't compatible with eachother. I'd appreciate any help. |

Do you have an operating system or do we have to include that in the budget?

Just to clarify - that is everything I need, correct? Don't want to hear something like "You didn't buy the screws?" when I'm getting my computer put together. Lol. Nothing is obvious to me when it comes to this. I appreciate it. |

For the
Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - $79.99 Someone commented: "Let's make this clear: OEM drives DO NOT come with mounting hardware or cables. This is not a con nor should that be considered a failing on Newegg or Western Digitals part. Make sure you have your own hardware. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED." I definitely don't know what kind/size or where to buy these things. Is it more trouble than its worth for someone like me? Or is it easier than I'm anticipating. |

Basically from what I can interprit from this is that when you buy your motherboard you'll get the cables necessary and same goes for the Power supply and Case mounting features. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

We are seeing problems with G.skill memory in P55 boards - I'm going to stop recommending it and recommend this Corsair instead:

is that P55 boards in general or just the ASUS ones?
I've put together two with ECS boards (which I know you don't recommend) and they've been running 100% I wonder if it's a recent batch from the manufacturer that is defective. |

That's better than my ordering it and paying an extra $80. (1 hour) in labor (and the computer store giving me an hour more plus labor for free) because of issues with it, never mind being without it several more days.

Should I even bother trying to get it put in, or just save time and immediately send it back for refund and order the corsair?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231189 Amdalex, what did the memory do in your system? Last edited by quartet-man; 05-27-2010 at 04:37 PM. |

You probably would get hit with a restocking fee - go ahead and install it, and run memtest86+ on it for a few hours. If it's defective, then do a refund/reorder.

Also test booting up from cold several times. That's a known issue with some reviewers.
