Sarge, what ram did you wind up buying? If it's G.skill, I apologize, it seems that brand has been having significant issues recently. You may want to download and run memtest86+.

Got what was on the list of recommends. Please don't apologize for Jack...you don't manufacture the stuff. As us in the know, know... things happen. My F-150 never blips but maybe yours does. If enough of 'em blips, then we recall, etc. What you have contributed for my tech stuff and personals can never be replaced. So now I go run the test, but test will prolly be ok since it's working, right? Looking at that site, sorry, I don't know what to click.

Download the iso file and use your CD burning software to make a bootable CD. To burn a CD from an iso, you use the burn CD from image option.

That's the one, the "rip jaws" gamers model. I was too tired to try and figure out the ISO so went to Fry's and got Kingston DDR-3 after breakfast today. Put it in and Bingo, boots on first try. That's so weird old friend. It worked perfectly for me except on a cold boot, and was actually faster once it got going. I can tell that after using this new stuff. Going to keep the sticks as a back-up anyway.

Thanks for the heads up.

If it's been less than 30 days, you can return the ram to Newegg for a refund. They will charge a restocking fee.

Kingston was a good choice, as long as it's DDR3-1333 or faster. You probably won't be able to overclock if it's not 1600.

I'll keep the other as a spare. The new is 1333. Other ones were 1600 and everytime I tried simple oc it came back and said it failed. That was perhaps one of the issues with the brand. I'm going to ride this horse for awhile and there are other tweaks I can try like the I/O and making sure the hd is getting 6gbs. Couldn't tweak anything b4 - maybe the ram was hitching up everything. I've never had a mb that had so many tweak options - and not just doing oc.

Again, thanks.
