$300 AMD Build!

I need to upgrade my grandson's desktop for around $300 and I wonder if anyone could point out any mistakes that I might be about to make.

MOBO
Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H $79.99 (All prices NewEgg)
CPU
AMD Athlon II X3 425 Rana 2.7GHz AM3 95W $61.99
Memory
A-DATA 2X1GB DDR2 800 $49.99
HD
WD Caviar Green WD800AARS 800GB $59.99
Case
NZXT GAMMA Classic Series GAMA-001BK $29.99
DVD R/W
LITE-ON SATA iHAS224-06 $21.99

I've already got a Corsair 400W 80+ PSU and Windows 7 OS. He just does light gaming, mostly internet and schoolwork. Any red flags?

Gaming is going to have to be pretty light with just onboard video. Windows 7 runs a lot better with a dedicated video card - can you squeeze out another 35 bucks for a card?

Thanks for the video card suggestion. I was hoping to see how well the on-board graphics handle the games he plays now on his old Dell 2400 Celeron unit. The money has been saved by the kid and we plan to upgrade as his budget allows. I'm concerned that I would need to upgrade the PSU to run a video card. The MB supports a hybrid Crossfire with certain cards and I thought that we might try that when the time is right.
I'm also thinking of reusing his old IDE HD for backup purposes, that shouldn't cause any conflicts, right?

You have no concerns whatsoever with that power supply. It can handle stronger cards than a 4650. Disregarding the gaming aspect, Windows 7 runs a lot better with a dedicated video card of ANY type. Onboard graphics shares ram with the system, and with only 2gb of ram, you need all the help you can get.

Be a cool grampa and kick in the 35 bucks for the card!

Thumbs up

I may be cheap, but I am a soft touch! Thanks for the encouragement (push)!
