Im taking the opportunity to build a new pc. I have never done it before, but i have some extra cash and want to try it out. Im not doing anything fancy or special, but these are the parts I have picked out and I wanted to know if they all work together, and if not, what I would need to differently.

Case: Black ATX 328 Case

Power Supply: 600 Watts Dual Fan Power Supply

Motherboard: Intel BOXDH57JG LGA 1156 Intel H57 HDMI Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

Video Card: POWERCOLOR PCS AX4670 1GBK3-PH Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HDZ940XCGIBOX

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green WD8000AARS 800GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Optical Drive: LG Black Blu-ray Disc Combo SATA Model CH10LS20 R LightScribe Support

Most of these can be found on Newegg. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You can't put an AMD processor on an Intel motherboard. You can't put a mini ITX motherboard in an ATX case. What brand and model is that power supply? G.skill ram has been very problematic lately. WD Black drives are better for primary hard drives. Good video card, but it's not a strong gamer.

Please post Newegg links to the components.

The ram you selected is not going to be compatable with that motherboard. your motherboard uses DDR3 ram, not DDR2. i would reccomend this ram:

Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model KHX1333C7D3K2/4GX

or similar DDR3 1333 ram. kingston and corsair are your best brands imo.

not positive if the CPU is going to be compatable. it is socket AM2+, while the mobo is AM3. it should be, but i would reccomend the

phenom II x4 945 OR
phemon II x4 965 black edition

for guaranteed socket compatability.

(not sure if you wanted the black edition for the unlocked multiplier or not. there are cheaper processors like the phenom II x4 945. black edition CPUs are mostly for overclockers, as the only real difference between the two are an unlocked multiplier.)

that motherboard DOES NOT HAVE ONBOARD VIDEO. you must also purchase some kind of video card.

depending on your uses, you could go with something as simple as a nvidia 9800 GT or for a little more gaming an nvidia 260 GTX.

the card is very dependent on what you will be doing with this machine. a little more info on that matter would help alot.

ok. i made those changes you suggested, and then will this motherboard work better since it has the onboard video:

BIOSTAR TH55B HD LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

that's an Intel motherboard (again).

I'd go with this motherboard for future proofing (USB 3, SATA 6Gb/s) with onboard video
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131627

Change your CPU to a socket AM3.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=Socket%20AM3
What are you using the PC for? That will determine which CPU you should use.

If you plan on playing any games, plan on not using the onboard video, but instead getting a discrete video card.

Oh and for reliability, choose a Corsair, Antec or Seasonic power supply.
Memory - stick with Corsair, Kingston, Crucial and A-Data.
Hard drive - most reliable/best performance are WD Caviar black

Video card - Asus or Diamond Radeon HD5770, HD 5830, HD 5850 or HD 5870 depending on how serious a gamer you are.

You have to pay closer attention - if there's the word "Intel" anywhere in the board's description, you CANNOT put an AMD processor in it, and vice versa.

Let's start fresh - answer this question, please. Do you want to use an Intel or AMD processor? Let's go from there.

Then, you need a budget figure, and also what will you be using this computer for?

ok, lets go with AMD, and $700. I will use it for some gaming, media editing, but nothing hardcore in a certain area. Just an all around computer.

That power supply is 20 watts shy of ATI's recommendation for that video card. Look at the Antec Sonata 3 500 case/PSU combination instead. It's actually 5 bucks cheaper than the 300 and 430.

this list comes out to about $474 without the video card, or $614 with its. I did not include monitor (that would be the last expencive thing of this build) or keyboard/mice as these need to be what YOU want.
