Assuming that should be enough information on my system.

Okay, so, here's what happened;

I finished building my comp; had all the parts installed, cables connected, etc etc. Went to boot up, don't get anything on the monitor. Try booting up again, notice a red LED on my mobo right next to the ram as well as the "Mem-OK" button. Light goes off, I click the button on a whim (lol). Comp boots, goes through all the screens. I, being retarded, have no idea what to do so I end up just trying to read what flies by. End up having to reboot repeating process with "Mem-OK" button. I finally end up getting into the BIOS and setting up my stuff. I boot from my Win - 7 disc. Go through installation, comp reboots, I end up having to press "Mem-OK" again... Finish installing Win - 7, install all my drivers, dl all my stuff, setup accounts, dl WoW, dl Vuze, dl VLC, etc etc.

I turn the comp off to go to work. I get back, end up having to use "Mem-OK" button again to boot up. It goes through a bunch of screens; I never configured BIOS or CMOS or w/e the heck it is to boot from hard disk, so would it be possible to assume that my comp is booting from the CD - Drive?

Everything works phenomenally. All parts score a 7.4 or higher out of 7.9 (aside from hdd [clocked in at 5.9]) on the Windows Experience Index. Task manager recognizes all four cores on the processor as well as all 4 gigs of RAM. It's exceptionally quiet for a machine that does all of this. I get 60-70 fps on WoW in all situations aside from when recording video and as such my fps drops to a forced 30 so as to conserve space. Loads are nearly instant.

I leave to go out for the night. Get back, run drunk 3s on WoW against my better judgement. Everything's fine; didn't have to boot since I didn't turn it off when I left.

Get up this morning, log on WoW, mess around, record video; everything works. I power down the comp to move it to another room. I decide to test it to see if it'll boot up before I move it since I'm already skeptical due to the Mem-OK issues. Red light next to RAM turns on again for ~4 seconds (as per usual), press Mem-OK button; nothing happens. Fans keep spinning.

I end up unsuccessfully trying to get my comp to boot roughly 10 to 15 times. I fail miserably. Forget to turn it off after one attempt, the "Numlock" light on my keyboard turns on. I thought this would have meant I had reached the Windows login screen but I didn't hear anything as far as musical tones go, so I assumed that couldn't have been it. Triple checked the connections on my monitor/back of comp to see if they were solid, and they were. I've checked to make sure that the RAM sticks are inserted correctly like ten times and they are. All the way in with the locks snapped in place.

This is my first attempt at building a computer, so, naturally, I was ecstatic when I managed to get it to boot up the first time and assumed everything would be alright.

TL;DR - Comp doesn't boot. Assuming something wrong with memory? Honestly, I don't even know at this point.

WALL OF TEXT CRITS YOU FOR OVER NINE THOUSANNNNND

INB4 COOL STORY BRO

Edit: Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am at a loss for what to do D:

I was going to, it's just that I'm in a relatively cramped area so I didn't make much of an effort.

I'll try harder this time >_>

EDIT: Currently assembling computer outside of case ;_; HERE GOES.

The same thing happens >_< LED next to the "Mem-OK" button lights up.

Thoughts D:? Going to try with other stick of RAM really quickly...

EDIT: Yeh, other stick doesn't work... Would it be safe to assume that it's the RAM seeing as how the LED continues to light up? I don't really have many options seeing as how I can't test the parts for duds in another comp =/

Send a message via Skype™ to Nikon
what does your mobo manual say for that particular LED? mobo diagnostic ligts can be very useful for troubleshooting things like this.

This is weird as (edited by admin) o_o

I hooked up the keyboard to the mobo and managed to get into the BIOS after spamming the (edited by admin) out of "Delete" AFTER the red light next to the RAM went off. I'm posting from the new computer as well... Everything seems to be fine aside from the fact that Microsoft made me re-authenticate Win - 7 via phone... I've tried rebooting and doing the same thing, it works. Going to try again for a third time just to make sure and then check the core temps as well as gpu temp.

I'm so confused D:

Do you guys think any harm could come from this? I mean, aside from my computer being set up outside the case right now with everything attached... I'm being careful not to get anything remotely metal or electronic close to it... I just wanted to see if I could boot up to the OS before putting it back into the case...

(edited by admin) IS GOING ON DDDDD:

Just rebooted. Working very smoothly. Reassembling inside of case now. I think I might just not even bother with this until it poses an even larger problem unless you guys think it could be hazardous to my computer <_<

Admin note: Do not use bad language. We are very strict about that here, regardless of whether the automatic censor catches it or not.

I would run some ram diagnostics just to make sure.

Ahh, gotcha. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone D: It's just been part of my vocabulary for quite some time now.

I'll run the tests right now. Thanks for the help, glc.

I hope you can cure that habit before it causes you problems in life. If I were hiring a technician, one swear word and you just lost your opportunity. First impressions are very important, and swearing is not acceptable in polite society.

Enough lecturing, but I do want to give you some pertinent advice - please read the rules at any forum you choose to participate in before you assume crude language is acceptable. Ours essentially says not to post anything you would not want a young child to see.

Fair enough?
