northbridge questions
here is the reason i came to these questions.
after some research on the nvidia gtx 460, and seeing it perform better (in sli, for cheaper no less) than a 480, my mind was pretty much made up. i want to run this card, and SLI it in the future (soon future possibly) the problem i ran into is there is an extremely limited selection on AMD (im the amd guy, remember?) mobos that support SLI, and im seeing mixed reviews and opinions on the nforce 980a chipset, and the 890fx chipset only supportx xfire. the only board i found with even a chance is the asus m4n98 evo board, and even that seems kind of sketchy. most people say the best bet would be an intel p55 or x58 setup, but man.... thats intel... lol glc needs to get in here and persuade me from my ways...

Anything but a X58.
Actually, it's quite simple. If you must have Nvidia video cards in SLI, get P55. If you must have an AMD processor, then use a single Nvidia or AMD video card, or AMD video cards in Crossfire. You have to decide which one of your "fanboyisms" is more important. |
