New Build ~$1000
I just wanted to get your thoughts on these components, and hopefully get some of my questions answered... I won't be needing a monitor, hdd, optical, keyboard, etc, and I'd like to spend about $1000 on the rest of this build.
Mostly I will just be doing average gaming, video editing, office, etc. In particular, if I was to add another GPU and a couple HDDs in the future would the PSU be able to handle it? How much wiggle room does 750W afford? and would it all fit within the mid-tower sized case? I'd like an acrylic case, but I can't find one in a full tower. I realize alot of people aren't fans of water cooling, but if I were to move to that in the future would that require a lot more room? Any concerns you think I should be aware of? I would get an Asus P7P55D-E Pro and an i7-870 or 875K instead. The X58 platform is just not very stable. Get 4gb ram to start with, upgrade to 8gb if necessary later.
If you really want a Nvidia card, get a GTX460 1gb. The 260 is obsolete and just isn't that good. Otherwise, get one of the Radeon 58xx cards. Why would you ever want 2 video cards for "average gaming"? |

Okay, thanks for warning me about the x58, but on the case, with the new components, will I require a full tower or is a mid tower sufficient?

Midtower is fine for any of those things.

750 watts will power any single card. You don't need more than 650 watts for one card. You will need more than 750 watts if you go with two very high end graphics cards.

do yourself a favor and spend the extra 20 bucks for a gtx 460 1gb. this card is the 400 series we have all been waiting for. huge performance at a great price point.
no reason to sink $$$ into dated graphix cards. plus 2x460 1gb = better performance than a 480 for about 50 bucks less overall, if SLI is something you are considering in the future.
