Time for new build
Hi, Well it's time to build a new PC for me this one's 4 or 5 years old, it's the one in my signature. I've got a 4.6 rating in Win 7, the two lowest marks are my processor and video card. Since my new SSD drive is getting 7.8, I thought I'd upgrade. I don't do heavy duty gaming, my most advanced game is Starcraft 2. But I would like a system that will last another 4 or 5 years. I take it the iCore processors are better than the rest of the Intel line by a lot? I can get a i7-930 from Micro Center for $200 which I think is a good price, but I did notice the mobo's for this processor are expensive. So would the i5 core series be a better bet? What is good amount of memory for Win 7 64 bit, I have 6 Gig in this. Would a Radeon HD 4000 series board be ok for most games and be good for another 3 or 4 years or should I go up to the 5000 series? And is it wise to get USB 3.0, I notice nothing now that needs it but who knows in a couple of years, those mobo's are also expensive. I will spend the money if I think it's prudent, but I want something that will satisfy me and I know that is NOT the top of the line, when I built this PC it was 3 or 4 processors from the top, an so was the video card, and it has performed well till now. Oh I forgot are ASRock mobo's any good I know when I built this they weren't too well thought of being ASUS economy line.
TIA
