Do you have a budget?

The 5970 is overkill for a single monitor. Save yourself some money and get a 5870 instead.

A 1200 watt PSU is overkill for a single graphics card.

Why limit yourself to a single 24 inch monitor if you have all that money to spend on a computer? At least consider a 30 inch monitor or multiple monitors.

Somehow I don't think there's a budget.

Replace the Velociraptor with a SATA III SSD.

The Core i7-980X Extreme is the world's fastest CPU.

In addition to stepping down the GPU and PSU, I would also go down to 8Gb RAM - or even 4 Gb if it's just for gaming. The rest is just pointless. Won't even come close to using it.

I'd also go multiple monitor although it depends if your games can utilize Eyefinity.

Sticking with reliable, real world gaming, the best performing CPU for reasonable money is the i7 930.

Obviously you're making the jump to the X58 chipset/1366 socket which is a whole different can of worms.

So if it were my unlimited budget, I'd still go P55 chipset, i7-860, 4 Gb RAM, single 5870 card, SSD drives, Corsair 750TX...

With the savings, I'd probably buy a dedicated gaming laptop so I can game on the road.

I'd use an i7-875K over an i7-860 and stick with the 5970. Better yet - the $1300 5870 X2.

However - I still get the impression this is a dream - this person just wants to spec out the fastest thing on the planet.

MaximumPC just built a hell of a fast computer for real..and its nothing like what is being speced out here.

This computer is seriously fast and seriously expensive....

I would have used three 5970's instead of three 480's
